Master Sam Forsythe

Lead Instructor

Master Forsythe has a passion for working with youth of all ages and has done so over the past 20 years.  Aside from teaching Tae Kwon Do, he has provided one-on-one and group counseling to youth and adults, and continues to provide ABA therapy to special needs children.

He is committed to helping youth develop into positive adults, achieve academic success, and encouraging students to find their passion in life.

Master Forsythe has been studying martial arts for the past 20 yrs and is a fifth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He continues to compete in sparring competitions from the local to national level.

A strong proponent for safety, he teaches self-defense using techniques from Krav Maga, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and boxing.

  • San Diego Martial Arts Association TKD Champion in 2011 & 2012

  • World Tae Kwon Do Federation California State Champion 2001

  • World Tae Kwon Do Federation California State Champion 1998

  • World Tae Kwon Do Federation National Champion 1998

Master Forsythe sees martial arts as a vehicle to change oneself, and to inspire others.  To him, martial arts are not a sport; they are a lifelong commitment to self improvement.  The belts that students earn should not be the ultimate goal but are benchmarks that track their progress.  He believes that martial arts are like any other relationships; you get out of it what you put into it.

Bryant Lamar
Charter Schools Head Instructor

Mr. Lamar is a 1st-degree black belt in American Kenpo Karate, a 2nd-degree black belt in Taekwondo, and currently continuing his education in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He serves as the assistant instructor at Dynasty Martial Arts under the direction of Mr. Sam Forsythe. Mr. Lamar is the charter school director and lead instructor for the SDGVA TKD program.

Born right here in San Diego but raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mr. Lamar’s experience in childhood learning and education extends from his history working with local non-profit, Higher Esteem Life Programs (H.E.L.P.) and Vertical Life Youth initiatives, which assists students in early career exploration, skills development, and talent development. In addition to his non-profit work, Mr. Lamar has a long history of being a director for both youth and music development programs in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and San Diego, California.

Regardless if it’s Martial Arts, Music, or Ministry, helping students develop skills for a challenging world seems to always be at the center of what I do.

It takes a village to raise a child, and as a son of a single grandmother who did the best she could, I can honestly say that it was the various mentors, “the village,” along my journey that helped me find my way. Thanks for letting us be a part of your village. - Mr. Lamar
